One of Nigeria’s most influential clergy leaders in the fight to combat the Nigerian terror organization “Boko Haram” is currently in the United States through May 19 as part of a Leadership Summit organized by the Omnia Institute for Contextual Leadership. The Rev. Abare Kallah, a significant voice in both the circles of Nigerian government and religious communities, has been a key leader in Omnia’s effort to train both Christian and Muslim Clergy in Nigeria to help bring an end to Boko Haram’s reign of terror across the Nigeria’s northeast region.
Kallah will play a key role in next week’s Chicago-based summit by the OMNIA Institute for Contextual Leadership, which has established an ongoing leadership training program in Gombe State engaging both Muslim and Christian clergy as well as tribal leaders and government officials in the method of contextual leadership. Last month OMNIA convened a gathering in Gombe State to establish a strategy to blunt the recruiting efforts of Boko Haram. Rev. Kallah played a significant role in organizing and training at the event, which drew more than 400 participants, including one high-level government official who remarked at the opening session, “It is a new day in Gombe State and in Nigeria.”
The Rev. Abare Kallah is an ordained minister in the ECWA tradition and is the current OMNIA Institute Leader in Nigeria’s Northeast Region. He is Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Northeast Region. One of Nigeria’s leading peace activists, he is a Special Advisor to the Governor of Gombe State and travels worldwide addressing issues of peace, non-violence, and interfaith cooperation. With a B.A. in Theology and a M.S. in Conflict Management and Peace Studies, he represented Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo on theCommittee of Nigerian Northern States Governors Forum on Reconciliation, Healing, and Security. A pastor of more than twenty years, he is founder of the Community Peace Dialogue and Interfaith Initiatives and serves as the OMNIA Institute’s key liaison to the Nigerian Government and Interfaith Community in Nigeria.
