Five FREE Mini-workshops to get your lead on!

From Resistance to Justice (R2J) is an initiative that convened religious leaders (clergy and lay) to strategize around how to put structure under today’s resistance moment so that it can become a sustainable movement for justice. Our unique contribution is our ability to convene congregations of all faiths, ubiquitous in all urban communities in the United States. Working in small groups will afford participants the opportunity to reflect, pray and strategize utilizing congregational and community support structures. OMNIA will provide leadership training.  You are invited to attend, either in person or by live webinar. Signup below.

1) A Paradigm Shift in Theology
Saturday, March 11 (10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.)

Many were shocked to hear that 81% of White Evangelicals voted for Trump. Yet, others of us have become immune to the mainstream neoliberalism. Today, values of Empire drive both major political parties. Religious communities: churches, synagogues, mosques and temples rather than cozying up to them, must become the prophetic opposition. We cannot do so as long as our theologies are coopted by the ideologies of Empire. Deconstructing received theologies and building on contextual learning can revolutionize teaching, preaching and programming in our religious communities, such that they sharply focus on justice.

4) Organizing Money – Fundraising and Revenue Generation
Saturday, April 22 (10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.)

Most of us get stuck because we don’t know how to organize money, particularly other people’s money, in order to build power and fulfil our vocation. This requires a fundamental reorientation from a scarcity mentality to an abundance mentality. This workshop will teach proven strategies of how to do this effectively.

2) The Primary Challenge: Understanding Self Interest
Saturday, March 25 (10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.)

What values drive you to be engaged in this work? What is your personal life vision? Are you able to fulfil our vocation in your present work? The 3Vs – values, vision and vocation drive our self-interest. There is often a tension between your 3Vs and the current reality of your work and home life. This workshop will focus on how to gain personal mastery of our life’s vision, and how to find ways to align it with our work. Sometimes it means orchestrating massive shifts in your organization’s/church’s mission.

5) Effective Communication in a Fake News World
Saturday, May 6 (10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.)

Everything depends on how effectively you communicate. This is an art. But today, it is a complex art. How do we communicate in a fake news environment? How do develop sharp antennae that can cut through the daily drip of corporate values into our heads? How do we use both traditional and social media to get our message out as effectively as possible?  We will also explore some tips to quickly and effectively enhance visual impact.

3) A Critical Discipline: Organizing People
Saturday, April 8 (10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.)

Those who are primarily motivated to change the status quo are not those in the center, but in the margins. But election rhetoric is primarily focused on the middle-class, and it is not about those who are poor. Therefore public policy rarely engages the real contextual struggles of those who are poor. Poverty is not the only measure of margin. Each one of us fall within the spectrum of marginality and privilege. Our ability to identify our marginality, and commitment to be the most faithful voice to articulate the concerns of that marginality make us open to the deeper and more central questions. It also opens up a new world of relationships.
